Lluc Font for Vintage-Inspired Branding

There's something about opening a blank brand board and finding the right font that clicks with the project’s vibe. I was working on a visual identity for a small, artisanal coffee shop called "The Rusty Bean" when I stumbled upon Lluc. As a Script Handwritten font with a grungy and vintage feel, it immediately felt like the kind of typeface that could bridge the gap between nostalgia and modern design.

Lluc in Logo Design for a Cozy Café

I started by sketching out logo drafts using Lluc. The font’s irregular strokes and slightly uneven curves gave the logo a handcrafted, personal touch—perfect for a place that sells locally roasted beans and hand-poured lattes. When placed on a simple circular badge with a minimalist icon, Lluc added character without overwhelming the design.

What stood out was how well Lluc balanced readability with style. It wasn’t too messy to be legible, yet it had enough texture to feel authentic. For a café brand, this meant the logo felt approachable but still had a hint of old-world charm.

Lluc on Packaging Mockups and Product Labels

Next, I tested Lluc on product packaging mockups. The coffee shop needed labels for their signature blends, and I wanted something that would stand out on store shelves. Using Lluc for the blend names worked surprisingly well—it gave each label a unique personality, almost like a handwritten note from the barista.

One thing I noticed was that Lluc looked especially good on textured paper or matte finishes. The grungy elements of the font seemed to complement the tactile feel of the packaging. I also made sure to pair it with a clean sans-serif font for supporting text, which helped keep the hierarchy clear and professional.

Font Pairing with Lluc for a Balanced Look

When designing for print, I found that pairing Lluc with a serif font like Garamond or Caslon created a nice contrast. The soft curves of the serif font balanced out the roughness of Lluc, making the overall design feel more refined. This combination worked particularly well for menus and promotional flyers.

For digital use, I used a modern sans-serif like Montserrat for body copy. The contrast between the two fonts kept the content readable while allowing Lluc to shine as a display font.

Lluc in Social Media Graphics and Website Headers

As part of the branding, I needed to create social media assets and website headers that reflected the same aesthetic. Lluc became the go-to font for headlines and call-to-action buttons. On Instagram posts, the font’s vintage feel added a layer of authenticity that resonated with the target audience—people who appreciate handmade goods and local businesses.

On the website hero section, I used Lluc for the headline “Welcome to The Rusty Bean,” paired with a subtle background image of a steaming mug. The result was warm and inviting, exactly what the brand needed to make visitors feel at home.

Testing Lluc Before Committing to a Full Brand System

Before finalizing the font for the full brand system, I ran a few tests. I printed out samples on different materials—cardstock, vinyl, and even fabric—to see how Lluc held up under various conditions. The font performed well across all mediums, though I did notice that some of the finer details were less visible on very light-colored backgrounds.

I also checked the file formats included with Lluc. The OTF and TTF files were easy to integrate into both print and web projects, and the licensing allowed for commercial use, which was essential for a client-based project.

Using Lluc in Editorial and Print Materials

The coffee shop also needed branded menus and event flyers. I used Lluc for headings and titles, keeping the rest of the text in a more readable font. The result was visually engaging without being distracting. The vintage feel of Lluc helped set the tone for events like their seasonal latte launch, where the theme was all about nostalgia and comfort.

Even in smaller formats like business cards and label stickers, Lluc added a touch of personality. It wasn’t just a font—it was a statement about the brand’s values and aesthetics.

Why Lluc Works for Vintage-Inspired Brands

If you're working on a project that needs a vintage or grungy edge, Lluc is worth considering. Its Script Handwritten style gives it a sense of imperfection that feels real, not manufactured. Whether it's for logos, packaging, or social media, Lluc has the versatility to work across multiple platforms and formats.

And for designers looking to add depth and character to their work, Lluc offers a unique opportunity to create designs that feel personal, handcrafted, and truly one-of-a-kind.
